Sail Acquisition Manager

Purpose:

Sea Bags is searching for an energetic and motivated Sail Acquisition Manager to become part of their team to cover the Northeast (Maine to New York) saving the Earth one sail at a time. The ideal candidate will be passionate about the brand, a wharf rat at heart, able to work independently with a sense of urgency as well as develop and maintain relationships with sail makers, marinas, and yacht clubs. This is a full-time, salaried plus commission-based position requiring travel.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Acquire used sails in the Northeast (Maine to New York).
  • Develop and maintain relationships with sail makers, marinas, yacht clubs and sailing clubs.
  • Coordinate trades for product.
  • Pickup, deliver and/or ship used sails and sail fabric to warehouse in South Portland, ME.
  • Keep accurate records and reporting of all sail customers.
  • Submit weekly reports including customer information and tracking numbers.
  • Attend boat shows, regattas as requested.
  • Assist in store pickups while traveling as requested.
  • Attention to detail and follow through.
  • Promote sustainability and Sea Bags brand.
Job Qualifications

Must Requirements (including any physical requirements):

  • Self-motivated (coin operated) and adaptable, with the capacity to work independently and with a sense of urgency.

Design Associate

Description:

Purpose:

Sea Bags is seeking a talented and energetic Design Associate to join our team. This design role is specific, but not limited to custom design work - working with individual customers, and business clients on the creation of graphic designs for one-of-a-kind totes and accessories.

Scope:

Customization and personalization are an extremely important and growing part of our business model at Sea Bags. The environment is entrepreneurial and collaborative, and we are seeking a designer who can “hit the ground running” and is comfortable working in a fast paced, high growth environment.Ability to multi-task and be creative with short deadlines is a must. This position is highly dependent on strong graphic design skills creating customer facing proofs and translating them into production files.

Basic Function:

Proactively share the Sea Bags brand story and cornerstones of the business in a manner that leads to increasing sales, exemplary service, and the best possible brand and shopping experience.

Responsibilities:
  • Efficiently translate customer requests into unique custom designs that are ready to be produced on sail cloth and made into a one-of-a-kind tote or accessory.
  • Re-work and manipulate existing vector art, as well as create original art to provide a customer facing computer aided design.
  • Communicate any design changes with customer via email/phone until design is approved by customer.
  • Vetting and proofing designs, ensuring accuracy, before sending to kitting & printing department.
  • Work closely with Sea Bags Wholesale team to create custom designs appropriate for each account, heavily focused on location specific charts/maps.
  • Assists with design of Sea Bags core line with guidance from lead designer

Purpose:

Manages retail store overseeing all aspects of store operations. Represent the Sea Bags brand in the local market.

Scope:

Leadership of the day-to-day operation of the Sea Bags retail store leading all selling, customer service, and operational functions. Ensures product levels are maintained and key out-of-stocks are communicated regularly. Motivates and manages store employees ensuring all service levels, standards and procedures are followed accordingly. Manages staffing plans, payroll hours and overall expenses to ensure costs stay at or below prescribed levels. Recruits and trains all new employees to ensure a solid understanding of company information, product knowledge, upselling techniques, and point of sale functions. Ensures the store environment and visual standards are maintained at or above standards providing a pleasant and enjoyable shopping experience for all customers and guests. Supports social media initiatives and company directives. Ensures all employees are well-versed on the sail trade program.

Scope: Stitches Sea Bags products from recycled sails as assigned by team leader. Manages time effectively on each sewing project. Maintains personal work area, including sewing machinery as necessary to keep work moving effectively. Communicates with other team members concerning problems and possible solutions.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare work to be accomplished by gathering and sorting materials.
  • Prepare machine by changing needles and thread and inspecting machine.
  • Sew materials together by guiding material under machine needle.
  • Adjust machine settings as necessary after observing machine operation; detecting malfunctions.
  • Quality check materials by inspecting work performed for flaws.
  • Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; noting necessary repairs.
  • Maintains materials and supply levels, noting reorder needs with supervisor, anticipating needed materials and supplies as necessary.

Scope:

Effectively coordinate with team members and internal production groups for order shipping and fulfillment including all wholesale, retail and corporate orders. Assist retail and production during busy seasonal periods. Work at annual trade shows and other outreach events.

Basic Function:

Verify and maintain records on incoming and outgoing shipments. Prepare items for shipment. Duties include assembling, addressing, stamping, and shipping merchandise or material; receiving, unpacking, verifying and recording incoming merchandise or material; and arranging for the transportation of products.

Responsibilities:
  • Pull/pick orders in preparation for packaging to ship.
