Tasks and Responsibilities:
Equipment Operations and Maintenance
  • • Assist in receiving, storing, and moving sails
  • • Operate sail laundering equipment
  • • Understanding sail quality standards
  • • Perform quality sort and organize as directed
  • • Prepare shipment of materials as directed
  • • Perform various die cutting duties as required
  • • Assist in inventory counts as required
  • • Operate designated light manufacturing equipment (e.g., laundry, die cutter, grommeting machine)
  • • Install equipment as necessary
  • • Perform routine maintenance of equipment
  • • Construct and repair fixtures, equipment and facilities as requested

  • • At least weekly, organize warehouse space to maintain a clean and neat workspace
  • • Remove cardboard and trash on a daily basis

Skills and Competencies:
  • • A commitment to recycling and an understanding of the Sea Bags brand
  • • Ability to communicate with supervisor
  • • Attention to detail to ensure accuracy
  • • Knowledge of sail material is a plus

  • • Physical ability to lift and stand for extended periods, and to move throughout the warehouse and perform all functions as set forth above
  • • Availability to work a minimum of 40 hour a week and overtime as required
  • • Ability to work as part of a team and independently
  • • Ability to provide 3 references
  • • Ability to provide own transportation to/from work location (S. Portland)

Sea Bags Production Associate/Kitter

Sea Bags, the authentic designer and manufacturer of handmade items from recycled sails located on Custom House Wharf in the historic, vibrant city of Portland, is looking for a full-time Production Associate to join our growing team. This is a multi-faceted position, responsible for performing a variety of tasks to assist in the production team in making products.

General Job Description: This position entails coordinating and assembling materials for producing products. As with all positions in our small, growing company, this position requires a high degree of flexibility, and responsibilities in addition to manufacturing duties may include assisting with customer service, shipping, etc.

The successful candidate will possess the following attributes:
  • • Hardworking and self-motivated; must be able to work at a fast pace with high accuracy and minimal supervision
  • • Strong attention to detail including continually checking for completeness of work order requirement and components
  • • Deadline driven and goal oriented; comfortable working in an environment with production targets
  • • Work collaboratively while developing close working relationships with other members of Sea Bags team
  • • Able to stand for extended period of time and handle some light lifting
