Description

We're very excited to bring back tanbark bags. We find very few of these used sails, and it has taken over five years to gather a supply of tanbark large enough to create a new collection. This colorful little bag has an equally colorful story. In the days when only natural materials were available to make sails, sail makers would dip sails in a tanning solution made from tree bark. The process helped protect them from the environment and, as a by-product, stained the sails a distinctive red-brown color. This dramatic bag features an artful illustration of one of the most mysterious creatures of the sea. Slim in design, this bag will help you with hands-free mobility and nautical style. Printed on recycled sail cloth. Please note: slight variations in color may exist due to the rarity of tanbark sail.

"I love the tanbark Seabags and bought this bag after having a regular Seabag slim crossbody for about 8 years that finally had a material failure. Given the use I got from the bag, I am not disappointed at all with the durability. Since I was given a tanbark Octopus tote Seabag as a gift over 4 years ago, and receive compliments almost every time I use it, I decided to replace the original Seabag with the tanbark option. It is stylish and durable as well as weather resistant and can be dressed up or down as needed."

"Love this bag, the octopus is just the coolest! The bag is a great size for the not-so-heavy packer, and the light weight fabric makes it even lighter. It’s easy to shorten the strap by just pulling the rope through the grommet and knotting the rope. I just ordered another in the scallop shell design for my cool blue days!"

"This is my first Sea Bag purchase and I really love it. The bag fits my wallet, phone, keys, a small notepad and pen with my to-do list, and lip balm and still has room for more stuff. I've gotten a lot of complements about it. I love just thinking about where the sails have been before ending up as a cross body. Good to know: The bag itself is super lightweight, which is nice when travel. . . not bulky at all!"

Obsessed with Octopuses and Sea Bags!

"I love EVERYTHING about Sea Bags. . . all my Sea Bags! This is a particular favorite as its a really warm brown color with an octupus which is such a special sentient sea creature. I went from my daily Prada crossbody I've worn daily for 1. 5 yrs to this bag which holds everything I need and a little extra. Durable and practical. The only thing I would change is the extra long rope strap which can be uncomfortable for long wear or if just a tee wo jacket for pading especially if knotted for more shortness (it comes to my thigh otherwise) for a wider flat adjustable strap. Other than the that, this is hands down my favorite bag that I will use as my every day bag."
