For over 25 years, we've been handcrafting Sea Bags with a commitment to authenticity, practicality, and sustainability. Every tote begins with a sail, but that's not all that sets our bags apart—our unique wraparound rope handle—a feature that embodies both tradition and durability.

Who We Are

The Tradition of Splicing

Our rope handles start with lengths of premium braided nautical rope, made right here in New England. To create the flawless loop that defines a Sea Bag we use a centuries-old maritime technique called splicing, a method used by sailors and fishermen to strengthen ropes.

The process begins by carefully snipping the ends of the rope and unraveling the braid into three distinct strands. These strands are then interwoven into the opposite end of the rope, forming a seamless and incredibly strong splice. To finish, we use a technique called whipping, securing the splice with tightly wound thread to prevent fraying and ensure longevity.
