Sea Bags on the Lazy Environmentalist
As we mentioned last week, this coming Thursday marks the 40th anniversary of Earth Day. That means that all this week we’ll be featuring things we’ve done for the environment and what we’ve recycled over the years.
For those of you who might be new fans of ours, you may not have heard Beth’s interview with Josh Dorfman, host of the national talk radio show The Lazy Environmentalist, a few years back. Beth talks about Sea Bags, the causes we support, and what it means to you when you purchase our products.

Sails for Haiti – Donate Yours by March 21st
Haitians still have a pressing need for food and shelter as they recover from the massive earthquake that struck in January. We’re partnering with others in the Maine sailing community to collect used sails to be shipped to Haiti to be used as makeshift shelters. The rainy season is quickly approaching in the Carribbean, so the faster we can get our used sails to Haiti, the better off the 770,000 homeless will be.
Donate your used sails to us by March 21st and you will in turn be supporting this effort. We”ll give you a Sea Bag in return as our thanks. Our address: 25 Custom House Wharf, Portland, ME.

We are so excited to be included in the March issue of Marie Claire (page 74 to be exact)! Our bag that is featured is the “Coffee Bag”, made from what else but recycled coffee bean bags. It’s lined with recycled dacron sail (we had to get sailcloth in there of course) and it’s detailed with recycled Maine shoe leather and hemp rope handles.
You can purchase the Coffee Bag from the Sea Bags website for $80. Thanks for including us, Marie Claire!
